If you think the best time to buy a house is the spring, you may be missing the many opportunities the fall real estate market has in store. The Northern Virginia real estate market hits its slowest point in the summer months and busiest in the spring months. Did you know that fall is our second busiest season in the local real estate market?
Truly, Northern Virginia is a year round real estate market, but the fall brings a lot of opportunities that you may miss you are simply waiting for spring. Job relocations happen all year long in our area, but the fall sees a spike in activity I believe because the fiscal year for the Federal government starts October 1st. That means raises for employees, new contracts, etc. And when a buyer in the market moves up and puts their existing home on the market, that means opportunity for buyers.
The fall of 2024 may hold even more goodies for buyers who are ready to find a place to call home. As we approach the Presidential election, much of the market pulls back, waiting for the outcome. That means homes may take longer to sell and almost certainly the odds of avoiding multiple offer situations is going to be much greater.
